BEMBENEK WINS COURAGE AWARD
Sand Martins' member, Stanley Bembenek, has been chosen to receive the Courage award at Wokingham Borough Sports Council - Sports Personality of the Year 2011 Award ceremony on Friday 25th November.
What a fantastic year Stan has had; earlier in the year he was selected to represent England in the first International Disabled Open against Scotland at Slaley Hall. A combined England and Wales side take on Scotland in the first-ever Pan-disability International, organised by the Disabled Golf Society, in a three-day event 7th - 9th October 2011.

Players that took part have different disabilities, some amputees, golfers with sight-impairment, learning difficulties or mobility issues as a result of, for example, multiple sclerosis, a stroke or arthritis.
“The event showcased the true heart of the sport of disabled golf to the world,” said England team captain Graeme Robertson, from Berkshire.
When Berkshire businessman, Stanley Bembenek was 37 he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer which required his leg to be amputated at the hip. Andrew Hall, Managing Director of Sand Martins, says 'Stanley's determination and drive is an inspiration to us all and we wish him every success in October'.
