Course Improvements - May 2012 Update

Work is now complete on the latest phase of the Golf Course Improvement Programme embarked upon  in late 2010.  Earlier phases successfully undertaken were the remodelling of the 3 par three holes at the 4th,8th and 12th.

The latest venture consists of extensive renovation and upgrading the par five 16th hole.

Sand Martins owner, Andrew Hall is determined to make the course the fairest and most enjoyable course for players of all abilities.  With a keen eye for detail and a desire to continue raising the standard of the already high quality playing surfaces Andrew has employed a team of specialists to assist him in his quest.

The golf course architect engaged is Alan Leather who, together with our own Paddy Flavin, has been responsible for designing and remodelling many courses both in the UK and the USA.

Once the plans gained the approval of the Directors of Sand Martins and Course Manager Matt Short,  a contract was placed with Ely Golf to carry out the construction and modifications.    Ely have recently worked on modifications to  Open Venues Turnberry, Royal Troon and Royal Liverpool.  As well as working on these prestigious venues they are also working in France building several nine hole courses.

The work to the 16th is by no means the end of our proposed renovation and improvement programme so watch this space for news of our rolling 5 year course plan.
